Shaomin Li was trained in art during Mao Zedong’s Cultural Revolution (1966-1976). When Mao died in 1976, he was ordered to paint a portrait of Mao for his funeral. After Mao’s death, universities re-opened and Li entered Peking University to study economics. He later received his Ph.D. from Princeton University and did his post-doctoral work at Harvard University. He is Eminent Scholar and Professor of International Business at Old Dominion University. His new book, Bribery and Corruption in Weak Institutional Environments, will be published by Cambridge University Press in the summer of 2019.
